Turtles Timeline

OBJECTIVES

  • To promote awareness among the target market on the environmental and conservation aspects of the Bundaberg Turtle experience.
  • To increase bookings and visitation to the Mon Repos Turtle Experience.
  • To drive tour and accommodation bookings during the shoulder periods of the turtle season, and promote the wider Bundaberg region and experiences to the target market.
  • To position the Bundaberg experiences within the Queensland Brand.

BACKGROUND

The Turtle season in Bundaberg, which runs from November to March, is an iconic experience in the region for both domestic and international travellers, and one which is strongly supported by Tourism Queensland.

To support Tourism Queensland's annual turtle season campaign, XCOM was briefed to create an updated, interactive and more appealing modification to the static Turtle Timeline, which TQ had been using.

OBJECTIVES

  • To increase bookings and visitation to the Mon Repos Turtle Experience.
  • To drive tour and accommodation bookings during the shoulder periods of turtle season in particular November to Mid December and February to end March.
  • To promote the wider Bundaberg region and experiences to the target market.
  • To position the Bundaberg experiences within the Queensland Brand.

SOLUTION

By refreshing the existing timeline by making it vibrant and interactive, XCOM created a technically excellent timeline piece. With the clever use of Paralax and TQ’s images, the timeline allows the user to scroll seamlessly through the timeline while learning interesting facts about these amazing animals.

The timeline was also developed to be mobile responsive so that users on mobile devices would be able to enjoy the same user experience as those using a desktop or laptop.
